""I'm not afraid of you," said the little old lady. "What do you want anyway?"
"We've come to scare you!"
"You can't scare me," said the little old lady.
"Then what's to become of us?" The pumpkin head suddenly looked unhappy."

Synopsis

After a long walk gathering herbs and spices, nuts and seeds the little old lady is returning through the woods one night when she runs into a series of disembodied clothing items and a pumpkin head who make quite a bit of noise as they follow her home.

Williams is a retired preschool teacher and lives in Portland, Oregon.

Megan Lloyd

Lloyd is the illustrator for over 40 children's books including two reviewed for this month's All Hallows Read list: White's Too Many Pumpkins and Williams' The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid of Anything. Scenes from her farm and drawings of her farm animals are included in over 35 of the books she's illustrated.

World Relevance

This is a delightful story to read and act out with primary school-aged children! The Little Old Lady deals with her fear in a surprising way which will leave young children giggling. There are endless ways to use this book for learning from gross motor skill development to literacy sequencing skills.
