The Hidden Wonders of the World

12/3/2020

Updated: March 9, 2022

Picture
"Oh wondrous discovery! You hold in your hands the shining key to some of the world's most secret places. Grab your compass and travel to the far reaches of this glorious planet. Descent into caves lit by glowworms brighter than the brightest chandelier. Uncover ancient history beneath the world's most romantic city. Float on waters as pink as a rose, swim with wild pigs on a pristine beach, and fly over the mouth of a volcano on the world's most daring swing.

Will you discover mermaids on a tiny island in South Korea, or witches deep in a Lithuanian forest? This book will take you everywhere and beyond. Each section includes all of the fascinating destinations you'll find at a specific line of longitude, those imaginary lines that divide the globe vertically and meet up at the North and South Poles."

Lonely Planet Kids

LPK, an imprint of Lonely Planet, published its first travel book for children in 2011: The Lonely Planet Kids Travel Book. With a mission to inspire children to make everyday an adventure, LPK has published books on the ocean, space travel, secret city walks, gods and goddesses around the world and many more.

The music and special effects in the  book trailer at Lonely Planet Kids online is reminiscent of Harry Potter.

Wonder

With a cup of coffee in hand and my legs swung over the arm of my favorite chair, I read through Hidden Wonders in one sitting.  Whoa! There are some strange and wonderful places in our world!

Travel adventures hold an important place in the life of our family -- experiencing the world and meeting people around the globe is a sure way to keep our hearts and minds humble. As well as learning to laugh and be flexible in the face of certain problems along the way.
