Book Brief

As the second of three nature journaling books reviewed this week -- all by Leslie -- this book jumps right into the process of recording observations and inspires the reader to use all of our senses to notice colors, sounds. smells and textures of the plants and animal life around us. These are simple exercises which take a minimal amount of time and anyone can participate.

The three sections include:
  • Begin - Let's Begin the Adventure
  • Discover - What Awakens Your Curiosity?
  • Connect - Find a Way to Share Your Experiences

Learning Activities

Family Read Aloud Time
Again, not a read aloud per se, but the prompts could definitely be used as daily questions around the dinner table for some fascinating conversation about how each member sees or experiences the world.

Learning Activities
The Curious Nature Guide can stand alone or be used in tandem with Leslie's Keeping a Nature Journal.

If you or your children are just beginning a nature-diary, purchase an inexpensive blank book which is easy to carry (like this one - I am not an Amazon affiliate) and colored pencils and get outside!
