Just one book!
If you could read just one book about gratitude to your child, this is the one. Seriously, if I had to choose just one, Vickers' Thankful would be the gift I give to each of my grandchildren.
The rich diorama-like illustrations are stunning, but it is the story which touches the heart - a little girl writing everyday little things for which she is grateful on slips of paper to make a paper chain to last the whole year is charmingly heart-warming. Ideas for Making It Real
There is really just the one activity everyone will want to do when you read Thankful: make a gratitude paper chain! A very good - and short - video instructions for a simple paper chain can be found at Simple Kids Crafts.
