Team Players, Perseverance, Grit
Sometimes our heroes and heroines are not individuals, but a team or a band or a group of scientists -- there is a synergy between each member's gifts and effort that create a whole that is far greater and more inspiring than any one individual's contribution. As wonderful as John, Paul, George, or Ringo were individually, the Beatles immediately comes to mind when we think of these musicians.
Learning to become a team player who puts the team or the group ahead of individual goals is an important character trait for our kiddos. The Sweethearts began as a school band who began their practices at 7am and worked throughout the day to improve - the perseverance and grit exhibited by each girl to accomplish such a daily task is worthy of remembrance. Integrated Music
Learn more about this remarkable group of women who literally integrated music long before the Civil Rights era.
