A Smile for Every Page
Traditions! Our holiday seasons abound with traditions and the one which kicks it off for many families is choosing and trimming the tree. Evergreen trees and branches have traditionally been used for thousands of years to decorate homes during the winter solstice and the first person to bring an evergreen into a house to celebrate Christmas may have been the 16th century German preacher Martin Luther -- yes, that Martin Luther!
Pick a Pine Tree is a joyous celebration of choosing the tree, digging out ornament boxes, stringing tinsel and turning on the lights! Every picture brings a smile to my face! Nonna's Recipe for Cultivating Wonder Ideas for Making it Real
Family and friends making memories together is one of the most beautiful undertakings in our lives! What are your family's traditions for selecting and trimming a Christmas tree? Our family's tradition took a whole day of laughter and fun! A few of the highlights included Boss cutting down the too tall tree we picked out as a family while the rest of us drank hot cocoa. Playing the Star Wars Holiday album Christmas in the Stars just once while decorating the tree. And our daughters hid Boss's favorite ornament - the ugliest Santa head known to man!
To make Pick a Pine Tree real for your kiddos, ask them how they want to remember this year's traditions. With photos? Through a story, poem or song composed by the family? I'm sure your children have all sorts of ideas on how to remember this particular season - just ask. Comments are closed.
