Grow a Monarch

Children who prefer information over narrative stories are going to love Gibbons' Monarch Butterfly. The watercolors are bright and highly detailed, illustrating the text perfectly for young readers. The book also includes written and picture instructions about how to grow your own monarch butterfly, followed by a page of fun facts.

Ideas for Making it Real

Grow milkweed in a container or your yard to attract monarch butterflies! The Ann Arbor District Library's The Milkweed & Monarch Project, designed in 2021 to help the monarch population, offers a series of six short videos covering the life cycles of the milkweed plant and monarch butterfly - perfect for children!
