Cynthia Leitich Smith, Cornelius VanWright & Ying-Hwa Hu

Leitich Smith is a member of the Muscogee Nation. She has written quite a few books for children and young adults, and is author-curator of Heartdrum, a Native-focused imprint at HarperCollins Children’s Books.

VanWright trained as a commercial artists, while Hu worked as a fine artist. After marrying, the two decided to learn from one another resulting in illustrating many children's books together.
