Summer Art Fun
Summer reading -- it's the time we can show our children how much fun it is to read! And there are so many simple ways to have fun with Freight Train: making lots of train sounds while reading, playing train before and after reading -- just choo-chooing around the room with your little one as an engine -- or playing with colored blocks to make trains are only a few ideas.
Summer art activities include building and painting a "train" out of ribbon or string and really small boxes - think Bigelow tea or smaller aspirin boxes -- or cut and paste a paper train collage of different shapes. If your child is fascinated by trains bring the book to life with a day at a train museum or one with other transportation exhibits or visit a local train station. Summer reading is about making informal but delightful connections between what we read to our children and real-life whenever possible! Comments are closed.
